A Christmas design market built entirely from recyclable boxes, bringing sustainability and festive spirit to Shenzhen Civic Square.
The Idea Box Christmas Market was launched at Shenzhen Civic Square. Unlike a conventional market, the entire structure was built from recyclable boxes, from stalls and display stands to the spatial layout, all of which could be recycled after the festive season. It was a light-hearted and playful response to sustainable design.
We created a new IP, Idea Box, for the project, giving the market its full name: the Idea Box Christmas Market. Running for three days over Christmas, the market featured design pieces carefully selected by the team, alongside a series of art installations, inviting the public to enjoy design up close during the festive season. At a difficult time, the market brought people back together and brought warmth to the city, while extending design to a much wider audience.
