A citywide design festival tailor-made for Shanghai Xintiandi, bringing two weeks of installations, talks and live music to its streets.
Launched in 2017 as a partnership between Design Shanghai and Shanghai Xintiandi, the Xintiandi Design Festival was Design Shanghai’s first festival to move beyond the exhibition hall and into the city’s streets. The inaugural edition, themed “In Future”, ran for 14 days and was free and open to the public. Close to 20 installations and spaces were presented across Xintiandi’s North and South Blocks and the Xintiandi Style shopping centre, featuring Chinese and international designers and artists including Lee Lee Nam, Zhoujie Zhang, Jamy Yang, ZIZAOSHE, FNJI and A&Alison, alongside international brands such as hülsta, Perrier-Jouët and UPM.
We have led the festival’s positioning and full event management, from theme development, curation and artist commissioning to on-site delivery and communications. Each year, for two weeks, installations, design talks and live music fill the streets of Xintiandi, bringing design out of the exhibition hall and offering residents and visitors new ways to experience design, art and culture. The festival has made Xintiandi one of the liveliest landmarks of Shanghai’s design season.
